Frequently Asked Questions
-
Do I need to show my hands in the video when submitting? For those playing instruments, it's vital that both the hands and face are visible in the video. Singers, however, only need to ensure their face is shown.
-
I lack an accompanist. Is it possible to use recorded audio for my accompaniment?Using recorded audio is allowed. However, to capture the true essence of a live performance, we do recommend having a real accompanist if possible.
-
Am I able to showcase different instruments in a single video submission? Each submission should highlight only one instrument. If you play multiple instruments, a separate submission is required for each.
-
For team entries, is it required to include the conductor in the video? It's not strictly necessary. If you have an ensemble group that doesn't typically use a conductor, then the conductor doesn't need to be on camera. However, for larger groups such as orchestras or bands, while the conductor can be off-camera, we do recommend having them visible in the video. This helps our adjudicators get a comprehensive understanding of the performance.
-
Our team is short of players. Is it permissible to include alumni or tutors to assist with the team?Following our committee's discussions, we have decided to permit teams to enlist the assistance of staff or alumni. This support will be proportional to the size of the team. Specifically, each team will be allowed one helper for every ten students, which roughly equates to 10% of the team's total membership.
